Project Changes Posted

Hi all,

I know it's probably overkill at this point, but I just wanted to post here and let you know that the project changes have been posted to the blog as well as the class blackboard site. Let me know if you have any questions!

Welcome to ENG 281: Introduction to Film!

Greetings!

Welcome to ENG 281.004, better known as Intro to Film. I'm your fearless TA, Rachael Hoy. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you throughout the course of the semester.

Just as "Life moves pretty fast" (as Ferris Bueller says), the semester moves pretty fast too. With that in mind, I have a couple of notes to help get you started.

During the semester, you'll do two projects in groups. The groups will be the same for each project and the list will be available on the Group Projects tab and via Blackboard as of the second week of class. Since both projects are multimodal, your group will need to set up a blog and e-mail me the link. Instructions for setting up a blog on Blogger are below.

Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you stumble upon along the way.

Setting Up Your Group's Blog

Step 1: Create a Blogger Account for your group and create a new blog for this class. You can do this one of two ways: (1) Set up a group blogger ID and password that everyone in your group knows/shares OR (2) create individual accounts that all share authorship on the blog. Either way is fairly easy to do.

Step 2: Name your Blog. You can be as creative as you want with the title, but for grading purposes the first part of your blog's name MUST include your group number and somewhere on it should list the names of all your group members.

Step 3: Design your blog. You can be as creative as you want, the only requirement is that your blog includes at least two tabs at the top of your blog (see below)

Step 4: Create two tabs for separate pages: (1) Home, which will include all of your blog assignments, and (2) Silent Film, which will be where you post Project 2. To do this, go to Design and choose the "Pages" tab on the left sidebar menu. Add new pages by clicking on "New Page," and then selecting "Blank Page." Make sure to add some kind of way to show the pages by changing "Show pages as" from "Don't show" to either "Top Tabs" or "Side Links."
